We are strengthening our member institutions by supporting platforms that connect our members to practical economic thinking, build technical capacity, and deepen engagement with real policy issues.

KESA President Spencer Muhonja participated as a guest panellist at the JKESA 2nd Annual Symposium, held under the theme “Evaluating Kenya’s Digital Infrastructure and Its Implications on Youth Economic Participation.”

In her contribution, she challenged the view that opportunities are merely underutilised, stating that, “the question is not whether opportunities exist, but whether the structure of our economy can generate enough of them.”

She spoke to the role KESA continues to play in expanding access to meaningful engagement through initiatives such as PowerTalks, skill-based webinars, and a growing focus on research and publication.

These efforts are intended to move students beyond theoretical learning into spaces where they can build competence and participate more effectively in economic discussions.

The conversation pointed to a broader reality: addressing youth unemployment requires more than improving access to information. It calls for sustained economic expansion that can support job creation at the scale required.

KESA remains committed to supporting its member institutions through such engagements, while advancing policy advocacy that promotes predictable and stable economic conditions necessary for investment, job creation, and long-term growth.
