We are building a pipeline of economically grounded thinkers by exposing students to how markets work, how decisions are made, and how policy shapes outcomes.

From 9th to 22nd April, KESA partnered with the International Economics Olympiad–Kenya to deliver in-person training sessions ahead of the July competition in Suzhou, China.

The programme brought together high school students from across the country, selected for their ability and readiness to engage with economics at an advanced level.

The sessions centred on applied economic thinking with a focus on building clear, defensible reasoning.

Students analysed market behaviour, examined price movements, assessed the impact of policy decisions, and worked through case studies using concepts such as demand and supply, elasticity, efficiency, and market structures.

This forms part of KESA’s broader approach to capacity building, equipping students to break down economic and business problems with structure and precision.

The intention is to prepare young people who can interpret data, evaluate trade-offs, and contribute meaningfully in academic, policy, and professional spaces.

We acknowledge the contribution of Dr. Herein, International Economics Olympiad and the Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi, Alliance High School Old Boys Club, Othaya Boys, Buruburu Girls, Alliance Girls' High School, Merishaw School and all participating institutions.
