About Us

The Economics Students Association of Kenya (KESA) is a Premier National Membership Association that brings together Economics and Business Students, Practising Economists, and key stakeholders committed to advancing the study, practice, and application of Economics.

The Association promotes academic excellence, professional and leadership development, and champions evidence-based policy recommendations that address current and emerging economic challenges.

Through research, mentorship, capacity building, strategic partnerships, and knowledge exchange, KESA empowers current and future economic leaders to generate innovative ideas, influence informed decision-making, and contribute meaningfully to Kenya's Economic transformation.

Our Existence

KESA was founded in 2021 by Erick Okwayo (Maseno University), John Nyawa (Mount Kenya University), Elisabeth Okwach (Maseno University), Moses Muchiri Mwangi (University of Nairobi), Victor Kimwamu (Kenyatta University), and Marion Wachia (Moi University), who identified a gap in Economics training within Kenyan universities. Recognising the need to bridge theory and practice, they established KESA as a platform to enhance the application of economic knowledge and tools to address real societal challenges.

This led to its formal establishment on March 1st, 2021, and certified under the Societies Act on Monday, 4th December 2023.

Through its diverse membership, KESA continues to drive meaningful engagement in Economic discourse, Research, and Policy Analysis.
