The Kabarak University Business Students Association (KUBSA) emerged as the overall winner of the 4th National Economics Summit, securing the top recognition in the project presentation category following a competitive assessment of research-driven innovations presented by participating teams.
The summit was held at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) on Tuesday, 12th May 2026, bringing together young professionals and emerging practitioners from economics and related fields across universities and training institutions in Kenya.
This year’s conversations centred on reimagining innovative pathways for sustainable job creation and inclusive growth in a rapidly changing world, with participating teams required to present solutions that demonstrated analytical depth, practical feasibility, and relevance to contemporary economic and development challenges. Submissions were subjected to structured evaluation and comparative assessment through moderated panel review sessions.
KUBSA presented the RespiraMate project, which was delivered by Margaret Njonjo, Felistus Joy, and Zack Nyandusi during the competitive presentation stages. The project progressed through the adjudication process, which involved technical questioning and structured review against predefined assessment criteria.
The delegation participated under the coordination of Vincent Ouma, Chairperson of KUBSA, together with Sydney Mabuka, the association’s Economics Representative, who oversaw preparation and engagement during the summit.
The 2026 edition adopted a rigorous evaluation framework in which all participating teams were assessed under uniform criteria, including originality, analytical strength, implementation feasibility, and policy relevance. The process ensured consistency in assessment across all presentations and disciplines represented.
KUBSA’s participation forms part of its continued engagement in KESA national convenings. The association has consistently featured across all National Economics Summits and National Economics Debates organised under the KESA framework.
The 2026 result marks the third National Economics Summit title recorded by the association within the KESA competitive cycle.
KESA national platforms continue to function as structured spaces for comparative evaluation, interdisciplinary exchange, and applied problem-solving among emerging professionals contributing to evolving economic and policy conversations.
The Association acknowledges all participating institutions, adjudicators, and organising teams whose contributions ensured the successful delivery of the 4th National Economics Summit at JKUAT.
